Welcome to The Snowdrop Appeal |
|
The Apêl Canser Gwynn Jones Cancer Appeal was launched on 17 February 2006 following the death of Gwynn on 24 August 2004 at the age of 63 years. The aim of the charity is to provide a CT Scanner Virtual Simulator for use in the Radiotherapy Department of the North Wales Cancer . This pieceof equipment takes 3D images of the affected area which enables doctors to plan very accurate treatment. It really does save lives. Initially, the idea was to purchase the whole of the equipment for the hospital at a cost of over £1million but now the Welsh Assembly has agreed to fund the machine and the building of the housing for it has already begun. However, it will take around two years before the system is up and running and saving lives. Because of this and in consultation with the Radiotherapy Department, it has been decided that the money we have raised will be used to purchase the software to upgrade the current CT Scanner to convert that in to a Virtual Simulator. With the help of the people of North Wales we could have this operational in 2009 |
